Biographical Sketch: Dr. Mohd Zamrin Dimon is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the UKM Specialist Centre (UKMSC). He is also a Senior Fellow and Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Department of Surgery, UKM Medical Centre. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2006) Dr. Zamrin was previously the Head of Surgical Department, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) from 2004 � 2006. He was also previously appointed as Honorary Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Sarawak Heart Centre, Kuching, Sarawak and visiting consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Normah Medical Dr. Zamrin has performed more than 1,500 cardiac surgeries including coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), aortic and mitral valve procedures, thoracic surgeries including lung resection for malignancies, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, endoscopic radial artery harvesting and endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting. His research interests include the off-pump versus on pump CABG surgery, mitral valve repair in rheumatic patient, endoscopic radial artery harvesting, endoscopic vein harvesting, post-operative control of hypercholesterolemia in coronary artery bypass patient, evaluation of post operative improvement in ejection function in valve surgery patient, complete profiling of cardiothoracic risk factors and computer assisted cardiothoracic surgery.

Education and Fellowship:

He received his MD from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1992) and post-graduate degree in Surgery (MMED Surgery) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (2000). He had his subspecialty training in cardiothoracic surgery at National Heart Institute ( IJN), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2000- 2003) and at Cardiothoracic Centre, Sarawak Heart Centre, Sarawak (2003 � 2004).

Specialty Interests:

Dr Zamrin special interest is in off-pump CABG, mitral valve repair, Video assisted Thoracoscopic (VAT) Sympathectomy for hyperhydrosis, endoscopic radial artery harvesting and endoscopic vein harvesting.
